About

I grew up in a house where art was not encouraged so when a first grade painting only won fourth place at the county fair and I was told I lost I did what any thwarted artistic child would do.  I designed clothes for my dolls, built a doll house and furniture out of cardboard boxes and construction paper and collaged a wall in my bedroom with gum wrappers.  Age brought new challenges and new art forms including poetry, photography and digital art.  When I retired all the pieces came together.

My work is a mixture of photographs, imagination, and junk.  Sometimes a piece starts with my camera, sometimes with something I find at a junk store or yard sale.  Other times it starts with a new technique or just the thought 'what if'.  I first work my ideas out on the computer using photographs and scanned objects.  Some of the images I work out are used with tiles boxes and other found objects becoming 3 dimensional pieces.  Some I print out to be matted and framed using recycled frames that I refurbish making it part of the art.  I believe everything has a purpose so I love working with throwaways and giving them new life.

Art for me can be a story, an opinion or an emotion.  My art evolves as I grow and learn.  I would like to eventually combine my photos and my poetry in collage and hand made books.
